Gun Lock

Roland Leong, Editor - http://shotgunreport.com/Reviews/Sesamee.html

A gun lock's intended function is to minimize the chance of inadvertent misuse, if the locked firearm were to temporarily fall into the wrong hands. Thus, minimizing a deliberate, unauthorized and undesired discharge of the gun. Gun locks are not intended to prevent people from stealing firearms, because once a firearm is stolen, the thief can, once he has safely left the scene of the crime and at his leisure, force the gun lock open, and have the full function of the firearm. Locks function as extra protection or peace of mind when traveling with a firearm. Gun locks are one manner. Locked cases are another. Alas, some jurisdictions may start requiring some manner of securing a gun while in transit. I believe in the Nutmeg State (CT), a firearm purchased from a store cannot leave it's premises without a gun lock.

Having said that, SR has had an opportunity to check out a combination trigger lock from CCL Security Products, the Sesamee Gun Block. If you are familiar with the combination locks commonly found on attache cases, the three dial type, with numbers from 0 to 9, you will be right at home with the Sesamee Gun Block. Dial up your 3 number combination, press the release button, and pull the lock apart. The lock then is reassembled on the firearm around the gun's trigger guard. The lock is pressed together, the combination is scrambled and the gun is rendered inoperable. Somewhat. As the instructions state, "Warning: May not lock all guns. Do not install on loaded gun. CCL not liable for use or improper installation." To put it another way, the Sesamee can be forced to move enough on the trigger guard to move the trigger backwards far enough to fire. It depends on the gun and the proper installation of the lock.
