Red = Lock has been opened!   Set Your Own Code! The new SearchAlert re-settable combination padlock by Prestolock offers two unique innovations in luggage security: 1. SearchAlert may be opened with an override device controlled by Transportation Security Administration (TSA) agents. No SearchAlert lock should be cut off by TSA agents. 2. SearchAlert features a Security Window which changes color from Green to Red when any override device is used. The Security Window shows Red under the following conditions: • Luggage checked at an Airport or Seaport is sent through an electronic screening. If a TSA agent determines the luggage needs to be hand searched, the SearchAlert lock will be opened by the agent. When the TSA override device is used, the Security Window changes color from Green to Red. The Security Window also changes color from Green to Red if a counterfeit override device is used to open the SearchAlert lock. • If a TSA agent hand searches a piece of luggage, the agent is required to leave a TSA Notice of Inspection in the bag If the SearchAlert lock Security Window shows red, and no official notice of inspection is found, the traveler should take the luggage to a TSA security person to determine if anything is missing, or if anything has been added to the luggage. Instructions for setting the lock combination, and resetting the Green-Red Security Window are packed with the lock.

Operating Instructions:

 Set your own combination any time

This combination lock is set at the factory to open at all 0's when aligned between the arrows as shown in Fig A above.  You can either leave it at this setting and always open the lock at all 0's or you can set your own combination in the following manner:

1. Open the lock by turning the dials to present combination and pull shackle out.
2. Turn shackle halfway around (180 degrees) in either direction and push in as far as possible.  See Fig B.
3. Hold shackle depressed and turn it 90 degrees (quarter turn) in either direction as seen in Fig. C.  Leave the shackle in this position while you change the code to your personal combination.
4. After turning the dials to the new desired combination, record the numbers someplace for easy reference (in case you forget the combination!!)
5. Without disturbing the dials, return the shackle a quarter way around (90 degrees). See Fig B, pull out the shackle and turn pulled out shackle half way around (180 degrees) and push in (see fig A).  Turn dials to any number to lock.  Your lock will now open at your own personal combination.  If you want to change to a new combination, simply repeat steps 1-5 (starting on your new combination for the shackle instead of the factory default).

 Security Window Operating Instructions:

If a secured access device was used to open your SearchAlert lock, the color of the Security Window would change from Green to Red.  To reset the window to Green see below:

1. Set dials to correct combination and pull up shackle
2. Turn shackle halfway around (180 degrees) and push down.     The security window should change color back to Green.
3. Pull up shackle and the SearchAlert is ready for use.
