The 2005-2006 Toyota Tacomas have an additional bracket (see below photos) that cross over the hitch receiver holes and secure into the step bumper holes above.  This bracket is an additional 4mm thick and requires an optional longer HitchSafe pin see below image for comparison of the longer pins.

This particular model of the HitchSafe also works with the 2.5" hitch receivers (using a sleeve adaptor) on Super Duty Trucks. Most hitch receivers are 2" and the 2.5" are quite rare.

The HitchSafe works with all other vehicle makes and models including Toyota Tacomas prior to 2005 and Toyota Tundras.
